The Verdict
At first glance, GemPages looks cheaper than Shogun. But the difference that actually matters is not the headline monthly price, it is what each plan lets you publish and how much you have to spend before that limit disappears.
Both apps cover the basics well. Both give you a visual drag-and-drop editor, a template library, and enough native elements to build a store without touching code. If your requirement stops there, either one will do the job.
Where they separate is the page limit. GemPages offers three paid plans: Build ($29/month), Optimize ($59/month), and Enterprise ($199/month), and unlimited published pages start on the $29 plan.

Shogun also offers three paid plans: Build ($39/month), Grow ($199/month), and Advanced ($499/month), but its Build plan caps you at 25 published pages. To publish without a cap on Shogun, you need the Grow plan at $199/month.
That is a gap of $170 a month for the same practical freedom: being able to spin up a landing page per ad set, a page per seasonal campaign, or a handful of variants to test an offer without first checking whether you have slots left. For a store running frequent campaigns, the page cap is the constraint you hit long before you outgrow anything else.
The free plans differ in kind, not just degree. Shogun's free tier is Draft Mode, so you can build and preview but not publish.
GemPages' free plan publishes one page and includes the Sales Funnel with post-purchase upsell (at limited volume) and offer A/B testing. If you want to test the funnel mechanics before paying, that matters.

It also offers user permissions, which GemPages does not list as an app feature. If you run several storefronts off one content model, or need role-based access for a larger team, those are real reasons to pay more.
One thing to factor in if you are evaluating Shogun's personalization features: according to Shogun's own note in its App Store reviews, Personalized Experiences moved to a separate app and is no longer available for new Shopify installs after 12 November 2025. Existing users are unaffected. Worth confirming with Shogun directly if personalization is part of why you are considering it.
The honest summary: if your bottleneck is publishing volume and funnel testing on a modest budget, GemPages gets you there for less. If your bottleneck is multi-store content architecture, team permissions or Plus certification, Shogun's higher tiers buy you something GemPages does not currently document. Pick against your actual constraint, not the headline price.
